The Lacy Vineyard
303 vines planted on 3/3/2006
Started with a good three months of roundup on an empty half-acre

Add 40 yards of redwood sawdust on the advice of a soil laboratory

Mix well....do not shake

A clean canvas

Drill a bizzillion holes with a Depot rental machine
Fill with some with Pressure Treated peeler cores 4" x 8' inside, 6" x 10' outside

Get the trellis wire strung and drip irrigation installed
Insert the grafted dormant vines, Syrah Estrella on 1103P rootstock
We dropped in 4 table grapes as well (yummm.....)

The inspiration for all of this

Grow tubes for a greenhouse environment and safety from our
neighborhood bunnies

Getting the party started

Never considered myself a green thumb, but only lost one
Gopher got it....hence the owl boxes

Grandpa donates a quad to the cause...Mikey is SO bummed

Gopher Patrol

Summer 2006
Pretty solid growth the first year....almost every shoot up six feet
I'll let a few flowers remain next year
to have at least a couple of gallons to call mine.
Winegrowers have patience...this I won't learn on the internet
